A 5-Generation Family Photo

Ken Garrett, a follower of this blog, recently shared a great story and photo with us. When he was born at Royal Columbian Hospital in 1964, his great grandmother and great-great grandmother were still alive. The local newspaper published this photograph of those two ladies along with his grandmother and mother, both of whom were also born at RCH, all admiring the newest addition to this five-generation family – one week old Kenneth James. Ken tells us that when his fiancée was seriously injured in 2004, she spent time at RCH in the Intensive Care and neurology units – the first time he had been back there since he was born. Ken said, “Thank you, RCH, you have been an important part of my life.”

The caption on the photo reads, “A family of five generations who live in this area gathered recently to view week-old Kenneth James, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Garrett. Great-great grandmother, Mrs. Fred Schofield is to infant’s left; great grandmother, Mrs. Henry Farris, is directly behind Mrs. Schofield, and grandmother, Mrs. John Corrins, is directly behind her daughter, Mrs. Garrett.”

Thank you Ken, for sharing this wonderful story and photo with us.
